Lisa McKay
Sr Advisor, Training and Education
Lisa McKay serves as the Senior Training Advisor for The KonTerra Group. Lisa specializes in stress, trauma, resilience, humanitarian and development work, cross cultural living, and long distance relationships.
Lisa’s interest in staff care in high-stress environments arose from a childhood spent living abroad in countries such as Bangladesh and Zimbabwe, and her study of forensic psychology. In 2003 this led her to the Headington Institute—where she served for seven years as the Director of Training and Education Services—and then to The KonTerra Group in 2010. Lisa has 20 years experience facilitating workshops, conducting assessments, and writing resources for organizations such as IRC, CARE, the OSCE, UN agencies, USAID, the University of East London, and the DART Centre for Journalism and Trauma.
Lisa holds a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Forensic Psychology from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Arts (M.A.) in International Peace Studies from Notre Dame University. She has lived in nine countries—most recently in Laos and Vanuatu. She is currently based in Australia with her husband, two sons who can frequently be found on the roof of the house, and a dog named Dude.
